Forensic-grade electric charger survey documentation

Survey it once. Quote it from the van.

EV·Surveys walks your engineer through a full commercial charger survey: photos, measurements, board details and cable runs, captured offline where there's no signal. Every photo is hashed and signed the moment it's taken, and one tap exports the DNO-ready evidence pack and a costed estimate. No second visit to measure what got missed.

A chain of custody you can hand to the DNO.

Every original is written once and never edited. The app hashes it at capture, signs it with the device key, anchors it to a trusted timestamp, and exports the lot with its ledger. Nobody has to take your word for anything.

  1. 01 · CAPTURE

The immutable original is written to the device. No edit path exists.

  2. 02 · HASH

A SHA-256 digest is computed at the moment of capture and entered in the ledger.

  3. 03 · SIGN

The digest is signed with a key that never leaves the device's secure enclave.

  4. 04 · TIMESTAMP

Signatures are anchored to a trusted timestamp authority when signal returns.

  5. 05 · EXPORT

Everything ships as a DNO, OZEV and Part P-ready pack that stands on its own.

One guided survey. Twelve steps. Nothing left to memory.

This is the survey as your engineer runs it, from the car park to the signed pack. As each step completes, photos feed the evidence checklist and priced lines feed the bill of materials. Watch the readout below build as you scroll.

MOVEMENT I · STEP 1

STEP 01 / 12

Site setup

The site and its point of contact. One tap on the postcode lookup fills the structured address and coordinates; the contact takes a name, email and phone. Zero typing friction at the gate, gloves still on.

STEP 02 / 12

Supply & board

Board location and photos, the main fuse rating and photos, and mobile signal strength with the connection type detected automatically. The supply's limits are photographed and on record before anything is promised.

Earthing & protection

Earthing arrangement and EV protection to BS 7671 section 722: earthing system, open-PEN protection on a PME supply, RCD type, bonding, Ze and PFC. The regulatory deep end, run as a guided checklist instead of memory. Anything unproven stays flagged until it is verified.

MOVEMENT III · STEPS 4 – 10

STEP 04 / 12

Charger spec

Charge points enter as catalogue groups, a unit plus a count, so one site can mix unit types. Each unit's per-phase current drives a live supply-load check against the board. The app does the load maths while you stand at the wall.

STEP 05 / 12

Payment & kiosk

Public charge points rated 8 kW or above must offer ad-hoc contactless payment under the Public Charge Point Regulations 2023. A regulation most installers have not memorised, resolved in one screen: a bank of points takes a single kiosk, a lone point takes a per-unit module, a private site carries no duty. Hardware enters the estimate only when the surveyor confirms it.

STEP 06 / 12

Cable run

One run per charge point: a label, conductor CSA, design current and install-method segments. Volt drop is computed live, per run, on site. Not discovered back at the desk.

STEP 07 / 12

Groundworks

The cable route broken into lengths by surface, with notes and photos for the whole route. Two metres of soft dig is not two metres of concrete; knowing the surface is the difference between a profitable quote and an expensive surprise.

Works with no mobile signal, in wet gloves.

Plant rooms, basements and depot edges rarely have a usable mobile signal, so the whole survey runs offline: capture, hashing and signing all happen on the device, with no data connection needed. The trusted timestamp anchors later, automatically, once you are back in signal. Nothing waits for a connection, and nothing is lost without one.
